Wesleyan Willet Library
Lucy Lester Willet Memorial Library | Wesleyan College - Macon, GA

Originally constructed in 1969 and designed by Dunwody and Co., the Lucy Lester Willet Memorial Library is a campus landmark at Wesleyan College. After more than four decades with minimal alterations, the College initiated a comprehensive, three-phase renovation in 2015 to transform the 34,500 SF facility into a flexible, student-centered environment while remaining fully operational throughout construction. The renovation exposed and painted the original waffle-slab concrete structure to create a retro-modern aesthetic, opened and modernized the main stair with aluminum handrails and glass panels, and introduced a new student break room. Major infrastructure upgrades included new ductwork, lighting, sprinkler, and fire alarm systems. Our team also developed the furniture layout and guided selections to support a highly adaptable 24/7 learning environment. The reimagined first floor features computer stations, collaborative lounge groupings, private high-backed seating, and large communal tables, while the second floor integrates reduced stacks with comfortable lounge seating and study areas to foster both collaboration and quiet study.
