Mayfair Hall | Georgia College & State University - Milledgeville, GA

Georgia College & State University reimagined historic Mayfair Hall as a centralized Welcome Center—creating a dynamic first point of contact for prospective students and their families. Designed to serve as both a recruiting hub and a powerful marketing tool for the university, the project focused on making a lasting first impression from the moment visitors enter. Working closely with university leadership, including the Vice President of Enrollment Management, Provost, and President, the design team transformed the original boarding house into a modern, student-focused facility. The centerpiece of the renovation is a dramatic two-story reception lobby, achieved by selectively removing a portion of the existing second floor to open the space vertically and flood it with light. This bold architectural move reinforces the building’s new purpose—welcoming, inspiring, and showcasing the university’s commitment to excellence.
